Millions of humans will be instantly incinerated. They will be the lucky ones. Millions will die painfully, painfully, and slowly. Large, presently habitable parts of our planet will be rendered inhabitable for hundreds of years. And who knows how humankind’s egocentric and tribal instincts will play out in the habitable regions that remain?
Impossible? Really? Where have you been for the last ten thousand years? Have humans EVER created a weapon they didn’t use? Ah, coincidence does not imply certainty. But look around. How many of today’s world “leaders” are thoughtful people that can rationally assess options and act accordingly?
We probably won’t be around when my opening scene unfolds. Maybe not even our children. But our grandchildren? Or great-grandchildren?
Is this a slam dunk? No. But ONLY if enough of us wake up and start to think and act in new ways that our incredibly flexible brain/minds make possible. It’s up to us. Our current leaders are busy, busy with current crises. If not now, when?

Dear Marlene,
Maybe so, but my take is that for the most part they THINK they’re addressing crises, even that they are making the world a better place!
The latest attempt to wake people up to the fact that we’re living in a “House of Dynamite” made a few ripples that rapidly disappeared. Only a minute few have even a foggy awareness that Trinity and it’s hundreds of successors mandate that humankind must make fundamental changes in the way it handles its inevitable inter-societal conflicts. But I’m almost certainly just whistling in wind. Humanity will not wake up until at least a few bombs fall. I can just hope it’s only a few.
Fondly, Frank
Dear Frank,
The trouble is, there is an enforced consensus in the legacy media not to draw attention to this troublesome topic, while in the new media circles 'culture war' topics attract all the heat (and none of the light). I am not as pessimistic as you on this topic, but if you ask me 'will more people die from nuclear weapons?' the answer is a cold-sweat inducing unequivocal 'aye'. I fear we will have to transcend other problems before we can get to this one, alas.
With unlimited love,
Chris.
